Well they say that if you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything at all! That is always wise advice, so I am not saying anything at all about this Dior "Haute Couture" Collection. BUUTTT, hold the phone, we did find someone that does have some good things to say about Dior Fall Winter 2014 and Raf Simons, the newest member of our writing staff Imerelle!
Please welcome her to the team. She did a fantastic job on this review and brings up some valid positive points about this collection that I was initially blinded to by the bubbles lol!......Imerelle now has our attention.
With the New Year beginning, and the post-holiday sadness among us, I thought I would go back and take a look at Dior’s Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Haute Couture line to give myself some inspiration to start the year off right! Although this is a Couture line, there were many classic, timeless pieces that could not only be worn at any time of the year; I think some of these designs could even be worn anytime in history.
I love the simplicity of this LBD! It has a very couture design to it, with the oversized bib top, but I think it could also work for day at the office as well! The same could be said about this all black, feminine pant suit.
This is what keeps designer Raf Simons ahead of the game. Buying luxury items and not wearing them just once- or even a few times, but being able to incorporate these items into your daily wardrobe, and I definitely think he achieved this.
I think this line has a little bit of everything. From slender pant suits, to big evening gowns, to tiny mini dresses. But I also think that it all works cohesively together. The colors in this collection are also a little mix of everything with soft pastel pinks, and powerful ever-greens, along with the darkest of blacks and the brightest of whites and then random pops of color. The reasoning behind all of the diversity in this collection was because it was divided into eight different groups, jumping from century to century. You can see this if you look more closely and take notice to each silhouette individually. You can see Marie Antoinette inspired pieces, as well as jackets inspired by the 1950’s, long coats from the Edwardian period, and jumping back to items inspired by the 1920’s.
