Givenchy haute couture has proved once again, that for a true couturier, the only boundaries that he is subject to, are the ones that he sets for himself, and are ever-changing.

Givenchy Haute Couture is one of the foremost couturiers on the official designers list of approved houses by the French chamber of industry, and duly so! At Givenchy, they do what they want!

We are to review the collection for spring/summer 2011.

First of all, through Riccardo Tisci, the Givenchy haute couture fall winter 2010/2011 collection impressed the world of haute couture with a stunning sequence of models keeping to beautiful traditional European precepts in neutrals, mixing in the trends for the season of feathers and sheer fabrics.

It was beautifully done, by far my favorite Givenchy haute couture collection in years!

See? In epic fashion, simply astounding!

The only thing that I would like to see changed on the feather gown, is the jacket. I understand why, with such an outrageous use of feathers, Riccardo Tisci blended in soft neutrals, and a simple leather jacket to tone the look down, making it look natural.

However, you know me, and if you don’t, if I am going for outrageous, I go all the way!

Especially in texture, I am completely uninhibited.

If I want to tone the look down, it would only be in the use of colors.

This fashion wrap inspired by the Givenchy 2011 feather dress is completely customizable from the j-na couture online couture shop.

I would like to see this feather gown with a feather head-wrap or shoulder-wrap, such as the model that Givenchy haute couture inspired me to make in texture and color!

This wrap is fully customizable in the j-na couture online couture house.

Now, who knew that after such a sumptuous fall/winter collection, he would set the stage for such a dramatic change planned for this spring/summer?

Let us review this change, and see how he made the transition.

If you notice in the above photo, even the background for the winter collection photos is the most traditional of French-Euro luxury.

It seems he used that same background, and a few key curves in common, to blend the traditional Euro, with the royal traditional Japanese Samurai, for the Eurasian theme he was to implement.

A radical unexpected change indeed.

Givenchy Haute Couture Fall 2011

Givenchy haute couture, with Tisci as head designer, was inspired by the Japanese culture, as well as the economic development of Asian lands. Where as a rule, if you are going be profitable at haute couture, you have to go where the money is.

Givenchy is one of the first major players to make this transition, but I do see more following suit.

Riccardo Tisci made a great effort in this collection, the detail on these models is mind-boggling.

As impressive and time-intensive this is, to me it gets lost in the concept and needs to be defined, and that was the problem with this collection.

The blend of concepts is fantastic, but it seems Riccardo has the two cultural styles competing instead of complimenting.

See the detail in the cutout where the sheer fabric starts. Very intricate, taking after the graceful samurai swan, but to me, it is reminiscent of the paper snowflake cutouts we did in the third grade.

However, we can see Cate Blanchett was a fan of this design at the 2011 Grammy Awards!

She made it look good! She has a very Sci-Fi persona and presence. A great choice for her look and dynamic personality.

Also with this model, as in several models, we see the sharp angles of the swan concept, but now we see rounded edges in Asian bows with feathers. The contradictions are very severe.

The effort was there, in this admirable, worthwhile, and ground-breaking blend of beautiful concepts, with incredible use of detailed mediums.

Overall, I think that it can be developed and defined further, as it will be wonderful to see this Asian influence become even more powerful and prominent!

I give Tisci extra credit for pioneering the idea of Asian haute couture, as I hope to see more and more emphasis on Oriental Couture, whose time has definitely come!
